Colorado State University has opened its new $230 million Veterinary Hospital and Education Complex in Fort Collins, expanding both Veterinary education and clinical care. The 213,000-square-foot facility includes 24 primary care exam rooms, tripling capacity, along with new spaces for emergency and urgent care, critical care, dentistry, ophthalmology, pharmacy, livestock care, and education.
The expansion has allowed CSU to increase enrollment by approximately 30 Veterinary students annually, bringing this year’s incoming class to 170 students and helping address veterinarian workforce shortages. CSU also introduced its new Ascend Curriculum, emphasizing team-based education, hands-on clinical experience, student well-being, and patient interaction beginning during students’ first year.
More than 500 people attended the grand opening, including Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and university leaders. Portions of the complex are already operating, with remaining clinical areas scheduled to open gradually. CSU expects the entire complex to be fully operational by the end of 2026.
