CVS Health has expanded its pharmacy services by allowing pet owners to fill select prescriptions for dogs and cats at more than 9,000 CVS Pharmacy locations across the United States. The new offering includes commonly prescribed medications such as antibiotics, allergy treatments, flea and tick preventives, insulin, and pain relievers. Pet owners can bring a written prescription from their veterinarian or have it sent directly to CVS for pickup or, when eligible, home delivery.
The service also provides access to convenience features including automatic refills and prescription synchronization. Customers can add their pets to their CVS.com account and manage eligible prescriptions through the CVS Health app. According to CVS Health, electronic prescribing capabilities for veterinarians will be introduced in the coming months to further streamline the process. With this expansion, CVS joins retailers such as Publix, Costco, Walmart, and Walgreens in offering prescription medications for companion animals, giving pet owners another convenient pharmacy option.
