Dr. C. Michael Kerns, a retired professor of animal science at the University of Findlay, has been appointed by Governor Mike DeWine to serve on the State Veterinary Medical Licensing Board through 2026. Kerns, who earned his Veterinary degree from Ohio State University in 1981, brings extensive experience in animal science and Veterinary medicine to the board.
He was one of three northwest Ohioans named to state panels. Allen W. Behnke, representing volunteer firefighters, was reappointed to the State Emergency Response Commission through 2027, while Kathryn Wolfe Farmer, director of crime victim services in Allen County, was reappointed to the Ohio AMBER Alert Advisory Committee through 2027. These appointments reflect Governor DeWine’s ongoing efforts to bring experienced professionals into key state advisory roles to enhance public safety, emergency response, and Veterinary oversight in Ohio.
