A Michigan jury convicted a former office manager of Bay Animal Hospital in Bay City of embezzling more than $20,000 from the clinic. Lindsay R. Everett, who managed the clinic’s finances from 2013 to 2022, was found guilty of felony embezzlement, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years. The case began after the veterinarian owner reported suspicious financial activity following Everett’s sudden resignation.
Investigators uncovered unauthorized bank transfers, ATM withdrawals, and misuse of prepaid gift cards totaling tens of thousands of dollars. Additional findings showed payroll discrepancies and missing funds tied to rebates and credit card activity. Everett’s defense argued the situation involved misunderstandings and informal agreements, but the jury ruled otherwise. The case highlights the importance of financial oversight and clear documentation in Veterinary practices.
