Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has announced plans for a second College of Veterinary Medicine and has appointed Kim Carney, DVM, MPH, as its founding dean. LMU has initiated the accreditation process for the new College of Veterinary Medicine in Orange Park, Florida, through the American Veterinary Medical Association Commission on Education (AVMA COE).
The university has acquired buildings and land for the new college’s campus and intends to explore moving successful academic programs to the location. Carney, who has significant experience in Veterinary education and practice, will oversee the accreditation, curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and coordination with LMU’s existing Veterinary medicine college. The expansion aims to address the growing demand for veterinarians, with projected shortages in the coming years.
