Dr. Robert McMillin, a 1957 graduate of Lorain High School, is celebrating 54 years as a veterinarian after opening McMillin’s Clinic in Greenwich, Ohio, in 1972. His journey into Veterinary medicine began after serving in the U.S. Marines and working with racehorses, which inspired him to pursue a Veterinary career. After earning an associate degree in California, he completed his bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University.
Over the decades, McMillin has treated a remarkable variety of animals, including horses, cattle, monkeys, panthers, bears, lions, and camels. He also served as a state meat inspector for the Ohio Department of Agriculture from 1987 to 2009. Despite suffering injuries from large-animal practice, he continues working because he enjoys helping people and animals. Supported by his wife, Rebecca, and family, McMillin remains active in his busy practice, where loyal clients continue to encourage him not to retire.
