At the 148th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the Miniature Poodle “Sage” won the prestigious Best in Show title on May 14. Handled by Kaz Hosaka and owned by Cathy Gauche, Sage, officially known as GCHG CH Surrey Sage, triumphed over 2,500 dogs. This victory marked Hosaka’s retirement after 45 Westminster Dog Shows. Hosaka previously won Best in Show in 2002 with another Miniature Poodle, “Spice.”

The German Shepherd “Mercedes,” officially GCHG CH Kaleef’s Mercedes, secured the Reserve Best in Show title with handler Kent Boyles. Established in 1877, the Westminster Kennel Club is the oldest U.S. organization dedicated to dog shows, promoting responsible dog ownership and breed preservation through events like the Westminster Dog Show, Masters Agility Championship, and Masters Obedience Championship.
