Blue Ridge Community College and Nicole Getzloff, CVT, have been honored with the 2024 Student Chapter and Student Advisor of the Year Awards by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA). NAVTA’s 100+ student chapters at AVMA-accredited schools offer students experience and community service opportunities. Sponsored by Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets, the awards include a $500 cash prize, a chapter renewal, a plaque, and a feature in the NAVTA Journal.

Nicole Getzloff, advisor of Northcentral Technical College’s Student Chapter, was nominated for her dedication and support, mentoring students, organizing workshops, and collaborating on community projects. Her efforts in mental health awareness and student success have made a significant impact. Blue Ridge Community College’s chapter in Weyers Cave, VA, received the Chapter of the Year award for its extensive activities during the 2023-2024 school year, including educational initiatives, fundraising efforts, and social events. Their notable accomplishments include raising $6031.04 for charitable causes, supporting student attendance at conferences, and engaging in community service.
