More than 25 animal welfare organizations have joined forces to create the Texas Animal Welfare Alliance, a new statewide network focused on improving animal welfare and supporting related legislative efforts. Established by the Texas Humane Legislation Network, the Alliance includes municipal animal services, shelters, Veterinary professionals, policy experts, and advocacy organizations.
Members will meet regularly to share information, resources, expertise, and advocacy strategies while identifying opportunities for coordinated action on statewide priorities. Organizers say increased collaboration can reduce duplicated efforts and strengthen the collective impact of organizations working to protect animals.
The Alliance will address challenges affecting Texas communities, including animal overpopulation, shelter capacity, abuse and neglect, and the sale of puppies originating from puppy mills. Participating organizations include the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Best Friends Animal Society, SPCA of Texas, Dallas Animal Services, Houston Humane Society, Humane World for Animals, Emancipet, and numerous municipal and regional animal welfare organizations across the state.
