VEG ER for Pets has opened its first Kentucky location in St. Matthews, bringing a unique 24/7 Veterinary emergency care model that allows pet owners to remain with their animals throughout treatment, including overnight hospitalization. The facility features dedicated sleeping accommodations for owners, reflecting the hospital’s belief that pets recover better when their families are nearby. According to Medical Director Dr. Kathryn Mehfoud, keeping owners involved reduces stress for both pets and their families while creating a more collaborative treatment experience.
The hospital’s open floor plan enables immediate triage upon arrival, and pet owners can speak directly with a licensed veterinarian before reaching the facility. VEG ER for Pets treats a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and exotic pets, offering emergency surgeries, ultrasounds, X-rays, and other advanced medical services. The Louisville hospital is the company’s first in Kentucky and joins a network of more than 120 VEG ER for Pets locations across the United States and Canada.
