Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine welcomed families, students, and community members to an open house in Stillwater on October 17, featuring interactive activities designed to spark interest in Veterinary careers. Among the highlights was a teddy bear surgery station, where participants practiced caring for stuffed animals in a fun, hands-on environment.

Visitors were also encouraged to wear costumes, adding to the event’s family-friendly atmosphere. Chasity Srader, the college’s prospective student coordinator, emphasized how experiences like these can inspire children to become veterinarians. She shared the story of a current first-year Veterinary student who participated in teddy bear surgery at age eight, demonstrating the lasting impact of early exposure to the profession.

The open house also allowed Oklahoma State students from other academic disciplines to explore the Veterinary college and learn about its programs. Organizers hope the event will continue encouraging young people to consider careers in Veterinary medicine.
