A major fire heavily damaged Carrabassett Veterinary Services in Kingfield, Maine, on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response along Route 27. The Carrabassett Valley Police Department reported the blaze shortly before 4:30 p.m., temporarily closing the roadway and warning motorists of traffic delays after it reopened. Photos, video, and drone footage showed intense flames and thick smoke engulfing the Veterinary clinic.
Officials confirmed that all animals receiving care at the clinic were safely evacuated. Two cats living in an apartment within the building were also affected. One cat was found alive when firefighters returned the following morning, while the other remained missing and was presumed dead. One person suffered minor burns during the incident. Following the fire, Carrabassett Veterinary Services staff began contacting clients to reschedule appointments while working to establish a temporary clinic so they can continue providing Veterinary care to the community as quickly as possible.
