A search is underway for Las Vegas veterinarian Dr. Shawn D. Frehner at Lake Mead, according to the National Park Service (NPS), which is coordinating with Las Vegas Metro Police and Red Rock Search and Rescue. Frehner’s family reports he was facing online harassment after a video surfaced allegedly showing him kicking a horse in the face while it was down. The clip, which some viewers may find graphic, raised concerns about possible animal abuse. His family believes the video was taken out of context and that public backlash over it may have led to his disappearance.
Nye County officials confirmed an active investigation and potential felony charges related to the incident. NPS says the ongoing multi-agency search includes aerial, marine, and ground efforts.
