The Innovation Foundation at Oklahoma State University (OSU) has launched the One Health Innovation Lab within the Venture One Health building at Innovation Park. This state-of-the-art facility aims to advance OSU’s One Health initiative, building interdisciplinary research at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health. Elizabeth Pollard, CEO of The Innovation Foundation, highlighted the lab’s potential for significant strides in biological sciences and economic growth.

Innovation Park, spanning 678 acres, supports technology-based startups and industry collaborations. Dr. Samuel Jeyasingh, director of the One Health Innovation Lab, emphasized the interconnectedness of plant, animal, and human health in their research. The lab focuses on projects related to pollutants, food safety, viruses, and parasites, involving various OSU departments and centers.

The lab includes an advanced biorepository for biospecimens and supports genetic sequencing, enhancing OSU’s research capabilities. Partnerships with OSU’s wheat breeding program and the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory further bolster collaborative research. Future plans include allocating space for emerging life science companies, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. The lab also offers resources, internships, and job opportunities, enriching OSU’s appeal to prospective students and nurturing the next generation of innovators.
