The Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has secured $2.48 million in research grants from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. These grants are part of a larger $400 million Agriculture and Food Research Initiative by the USDA-NIFA, aiming to improve various aspects of agriculture and food production.

The four research projects, led by faculty members Samodha Fernando, Daniel Ciobanu, Hiep Vu, and Lianna Walker, focus on combating viral diseases, antimicrobial resistance, farm sustainability, and human health implications in swine. These projects aim to address crucial issues in Animal Health and production, contributing to food safety, security, and rural economies.
